James Mastan of Blue Rain Marketing gave a great presentation on building online communities using off-brand and integrated marketing with social media. His company has aggregated a very passionate community of Microsoft One Note users. One of the many points that stood out to me is how Blue Rain programs to encourage and stimulate engagement using content and also activities, like contests.
